Morocco came in 16th position in Insider Monkey’s top 20 ranking of countries with the best roads in the world, with a mean speed between major cities of 95 kilometers per hour.

Based on the International Monetary Fund’s Road Quality and Mean Speed Score Report for 2022, finance platform Insider Monkey compiled a list of the top 20 countries with the best roads in the world.

The mean speed is a metric that covers road quality comprehensively as it includes factors such as accessibility, surface condition, traffic flow and the engineering involved.

“The country allocates a major portion of the national budget for the maintenance of roads,” the platform noted, highlighting that “the quality of rural roads has also been improved in Morocco.”

Moroccan road infrastructure outperformed Italy, Serbia, Iran, and Sweden, ranking higher in the list.
